An innovative high-rise mixed-use housing project was initiated in downtown Oakland's vibrant Uptown district, strategically positioned within one-half mile of the multi-modal BART station to capitalize on exceptional transit connectivity and the area's urban renaissance. The 1629 Webster development features 340 residential units serving diverse housing needs including family units, co-living spaces, and designated workforce housing for local healthcare employees, integrated with state-of-the-art amenities including a childcare center for up to 150 children, extensive co-working spaces, and comprehensive community programs.
Positioned at the heart of Oakland's cultural and culinary transformation, the development capitalizes on direct access to BART, SF Bay Ferry, and AC Transit while emphasizing sustainability through water conservation systems, renewable co-generation technology, natural ventilation, and comprehensive recycling programs.
The project creates significant green spaces including roof deck terraces and public open areas that benefit both residents and the broader Oakland community.
Alan Katz and Chris White, on behalf of Brookwood Group, joint ventured with Monarq Development to advance this innovative urban development that addresses community housing needs and environmental sustainability in one of the Bay Area's most dynamic neighborhoods.
